Somatic Experiencing

Feeling our best starts with a healthy and vibrant nervous system.  This intricate system directly correlates to how we interact with the world around us, as well as within us.  Processing past and present experiences, feelings and emotions, digesting food and information,  intelligence, learning and memory, and movement are just the beginning of what our nervous system is responsible for.

Many life events, big and small, can be responsible for a less than ideally functioning system.  We learn to adapt to our environment as a survival strategy, often from very early in life.  Somatic experiencing is a great tool to gently shift from a maladaptive state to a resilient state of being.  Each of us has our own unique blueprint woven from our day to day experiences that have shaped our lives, and even from our time in the womb.  Some of us live in survival physiology constantly and have a challenging time adapting to stressful situations, which ultimately diminishes our ability to connect and to reach our truest God-given potential.  

A session of SE can look many ways.  Because we are all unique and working through our own individual life stories, we look to SE as a model, not as a cookie cutter bandaid.  Movement, touch work, stabilization tools, and exploration are all ways we might work together to create a container of safety to expand and to grow your tolerance for stress as well as to begin to process past experiences or traumas that have been holding you in a pattern of dysregulation.
